Version 1.2 · Effective September 26, 2026 · Replaces Version 1.1 of September 16, 2026
These are the terms for using Liftgeist: the iOS and Android apps, the Apple Watch app, the web app at app.liftgeist.com, the dashboard at web.liftgeist.com, and the website at liftgeist.com. By creating an account or using any of them you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Liftgeist. How we handle your data is covered separately, and in more detail, by the Privacy Policy; these terms do not change anything it says.
The short version. Liftgeist is a training and nutrition tracker with some AI help. Most of it is free; Liftgeist Pro, an optional one-time purchase through Apple, unlocks the in-app coach and extra style packs. It is not a doctor, a dietitian or a coach standing next to you. The loads you lift, the food you eat and the decisions you make about your body are yours, and so is the responsibility for them. Every number the app shows is an estimate you can edit. Your data belongs to you: export it or delete it whenever you like. We will do our honest best to keep the service running and your log intact, and we say plainly below where our responsibility ends.
1. Who we are
Liftgeist is operated by Luka Jorjoliani, an individual trading as Liftgeist ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].
If Liftgeist is later operated by a company, the operator named above will change and these terms will be updated with the company name and registered address, as the Privacy Policy also says.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 to create an account. This matches the Privacy Policy. If you are younger, you may not use Liftgeist, and if we learn that you have, we will delete the account.
One account per person. Do not share it or let anyone else log under your name; your training log only makes sense if it is yours.
Sign-in is by Google, Apple, an emailed link or an emailed code. There is no Liftgeist password. Keep your email and sign-in providers secure, because whoever controls them controls the account.
Guest mode needs no account. Nothing in guest mode is synced or backed up by us; deleting the app removes it.
You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your contact email current so we can reach you about it.
3. What Liftgeist is, and is not
Liftgeist is a tool for recording workouts, meals and bodyweight, following a training program, and seeing what changed over time. Some parts of it use AI: estimating a meal from text or a photo, building or importing a program, setting nutrition targets, and the in-app coach.
It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. Nothing it shows or says is medical, nutritional or professional advice, and nothing about it replaces a doctor, a registered dietitian, a physiotherapist or a qualified coach who has actually seen you train. Its numbers, including AI calorie and macro estimates, energy-balance figures and estimated one-rep maxes, are approximations for tracking trends. They can be wrong, and you can edit every one of them before it is saved.
4. Your health and safety
Resistance training, cardio and changes to what you eat carry real risk of injury and illness. You accept that risk when you use Liftgeist. In particular:
You choose the exercises, the loads, the reps and the form. A program in the app, whether from the catalogue, built by the AI or written by you, is a plan, not an instruction. If a movement, a weight or a session feels wrong, do not do it. Pain is a signal to stop or substitute, never to push through.
Talk to a professional first if you have a medical condition, an injury, a history of disordered eating, are pregnant or postpartum, or are new to training. Liftgeist cannot know these things about you unless you tell it, and even then it is not qualified to judge them.
Calorie and macro targets are starting points derived from a formula and your own inputs. Very low intakes, rapid weight change and extreme deficits can harm you. The app applies a floor to its own suggestions, but the number you eat is your decision.
Weekly adjustments are optional and automated. If you turn them on, the app estimates a new calorie target each week from your own logs and weigh-ins. That estimate is not medical advice. The feature is offered only to adults who confirm they are not pregnant or breastfeeding and do not need a medically supervised nutrition plan, and you can pause it or turn it off at any time.
Estimates are estimates. A photo estimate of a plate, a one-rep max computed from a set of eight, a burned-energy figure built from a step count: each is a model's guess, presented so you can correct it. Do not treat any of them as measured fact.
Rest timers, notifications and the Watch are conveniences that depend on your device, your settings and the operating system. Do not rely on a buzz for anything where a missed cue could hurt you.
If something goes wrong with your health, stop training and get help from a person who is qualified to give it.
5. AI features
AI outputs are generated by a third-party model (see the Privacy Policy, section 6) from what you and the app give it. They can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for you, and they are not reviewed by a person before you see them.
Every AI result is editable before it is saved, and the coach never changes your log or your plan without showing you a confirmation first. What you confirm is your decision.
The coach is limited to training and nutrition as it relates to training. It is designed to decline medical, medication and performance-enhancing-drug questions. That design can fail; if it ever answers something it should not have, do not act on it, and tell us.
AI features have a daily usage limit per account and may be unavailable, slow or changed at any time. Every part of the app that uses AI has a non-AI fallback, so the tracker itself keeps working without them.
We may change the models or the provider behind these features. If a change materially affects how your data is handled, the Privacy Policy explains how we tell you.
6. Your data
It is yours. Your workouts, sets, meals, photos, bodyweight, notes and everything else you put into Liftgeist remain your data. You give us only the licence we need to store it, sync it between your devices, back it up, display it to you, and run the features you use on it, for as long as you keep an account. That licence ends when the data is deleted.
Export any time, free, as a file from the dashboard. Delete any time from Settings in the app; this page says exactly what is removed.
Apple Health data is read only with your permission, only for the purposes the app states when it asks, and can be switched off in Settings or in iOS at any time. The Privacy Policy, section 14, is the full statement.
Keep your own copy. Sync is designed to be careful, and the app keeps a local copy on each device, but no cloud service is perfect. If your log matters to you, export it now and then.
The Privacy Policy and, for Washington and Nevada residents, the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy govern how we collect, use, share and keep your data. Where these terms and those policies differ on a data question, the policies win.
7. Acceptable use
Use Liftgeist for your own training and nutrition. Do not:
use it for anything unlawful, or to harm or harass anyone;
script, automate or bulk-call the AI features, or try to get around the usage limits, rate limits, sign-in checks or the checks that unlock Liftgeist Pro;
probe, scan or test the security of the service without our written permission, or interfere with it or with other people's use of it;
copy, resell, sublicense or redistribute the app or the service, or reverse engineer it except where the law expressly allows;
submit content you have no right to submit, including a program, image or document that infringes someone else's rights;
impersonate anyone, or create accounts for other people.
If you find a security problem, please tell us at [email protected] and give us a reasonable chance to fix it before you share it.
8. Availability, changes and updates
We aim to keep Liftgeist running, but we do not promise it will be available at any particular time, uninterrupted, or free of errors.
We may add, change or remove features, and we may update the app on your device, including through the app stores and through updates the app fetches itself. Some features need a current operating system or a current version of the app.
We may suspend or withdraw the service, in whole or in part, where we need to for maintenance, security, legal reasons, or because we have decided to stop offering it. If we stop offering it entirely, we will give reasonable notice where we can, and you will be able to export your data first.
9. Paid features
Most of Liftgeist is free to use. Liftgeist Pro is an optional in-app purchase, made in the iPhone app through Apple's App Store, that unlocks two things: the in-app coach and the four extra style packs. The classic style, light and dark mode, the accent colours and everything else in the app stay free.
One purchase, not a subscription. Pro is bought once and unlocks those features for as long as Liftgeist is offered. The price is shown in the app, in your local currency, before you buy.
Free 7-day trial. The trial is a separate, free in-app item. It unlocks the same features for seven days from the moment you take it, once per Apple ID. When it ends, those features lock again until you buy Pro. Nothing is charged automatically and there is nothing to cancel.
Apple handles the money. Payment, refunds and your purchase history are handled by Apple under Apple's own terms, not by us. To ask for a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a purchase, the features it unlocked lock again.
It belongs to your Apple ID. Pro is tied to the Apple ID that bought it, not to your Liftgeist account. On another device signed in to the same Apple ID, use Restore purchases in Settings if Pro does not appear on its own. Deleting your Liftgeist account neither cancels nor refunds it.
AI has limits. The coach relies on a third-party AI model, so, like every AI feature (section 5), it is subject to reasonable daily usage limits that protect the service, and it may be slow or unavailable when the AI provider is.
iPhone only, for now. Pro is sold only in the iPhone app. A purchase made there does not currently unlock anything in the web app at app.liftgeist.com or on the dashboard at web.liftgeist.com.
Nothing in these terms obliges you to pay for anything.
10. Third-party services
Liftgeist is built on services run by other companies: hosting and the API on Cloudflare, accounts and storage on Supabase, AI features on Anthropic's models, sign-in through Apple and Google, in-app purchases through Apple's App Store, food data from Open Food Facts, and exercise images from a public-domain library. Those companies' terms govern their parts, and the Privacy Policy, section 5, lists what each one receives. We are not responsible for a third-party service being unavailable or changing, though we will try to keep the app working when one does.
11. Ownership
The Liftgeist apps, website, design, code and name are ours or our licensors', and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own use, under these terms. They give you nothing else. The exercise library is drawn from a public-domain source and is not ours to restrict; your own data is yours, as section 6 says.
12. Ending your account
You can stop at any time by deleting your account in Settings, which removes your synced data as the deletion page describes, or simply by deleting the app.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is used to abuse the service or the AI features, or where the law requires it. Where it is practical and lawful, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.
Sections 4, 6, 11, 13, 14, 15 and 17 continue to apply after an account ends.
13. No warranty
Liftgeist is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises about it: not that it is accurate, reliable, fit for any particular purpose, free of errors, or that it will meet your goals. Any warranty the law implies and lets us exclude is excluded.
If you are a consumer, you have rights under the law of the place you live that cannot be excluded. Nothing here takes those away.
14. Limits of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows:
we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits, business or opportunity, however it arises;
we are not liable for injury, illness or harm that results from your training, your diet, or your reliance on any number, plan, estimate or AI output the app shows you, because sections 3, 4 and 5 place those decisions with you;
our total liability to you for everything arising out of Liftgeist in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid for Liftgeist in that period and fifty US dollars.
15. Your responsibility to us
If someone brings a claim against us because of your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of Liftgeist, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages that result. This does not apply to claims caused by our own breach or negligence.
16. Apple App Store
If you use the iOS or Apple Watch app, these additional terms apply, because Apple requires them:
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it; we do.
If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection claims.
If a third party claims the app infringes its intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for handling that claim.
You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Your licence to the iOS app is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as the App Store terms permit.
17. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Texas, United States of America, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory law of the place you live, and you may also bring a claim there.
Before either of us goes to court, please email us. Almost everything can be sorted out that way, and we would rather fix a problem than argue about it.
18. Changes to these terms
We will update this page and the version and date at the top. For changes that materially affect your rights or obligations, we will tell you inside the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Liftgeist after a change takes effect means you accept it; if you do not, delete your account before then. Previous versions are available on request.
